Delete directly in the app
Open Chitti → Settings → Delete account. Enter your password and confirm. This permanently removes your account from active application storage; it is not a temporary deactivation. Uninstalling Chitti alone does not delete your account.
Request deletion without the app
Email harshita210604@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my Chitti account”. Include your Chitti username and state that you want the account and associated data deleted. You do not need to reinstall the app to send a request.
Email an account deletion request
The button opens your email app with a draft. It does not send anything or delete your account automatically. If no email app opens, send the request manually to harshita210604@gmail.com. Never include your password, private encryption keys, or backup passphrase.
Verification and timing
We verify account ownership before processing an email request to prevent someone else from deleting your account. A username alone is not proof of ownership; we may ask for appropriate verification. We will not ask you to email your password or private keys.
In-app deletion is processed when you confirm it. For email requests, we aim to respond within 30 days of receiving the request, or sooner where required by law. If verification or a permitted extension is needed, we explain the next step and expected timing. We confirm when an approved request has been completed.
What is deleted
Deletion removes your account profile, password hash, registered devices and public keys, contact relationships and blocks, group memberships, reports you submitted, queued encrypted messages, and optional encrypted history backup from active application storage.
If you own a group, it may continue under another member. A group with no remaining members is deleted.
What deletion cannot remove
Reports submitted by other users may remain with the deleted account’s target reference removed. Messages and media already delivered to other people remain on their devices, including screenshots or copies they saved. You may separately use available message-deletion controls before deleting your account, but these cannot retract saved copies.
Infrastructure logs, recovery copies held by hosting providers, support correspondence needed to handle the request, or records legally required to be retained can follow separate retention processes. See the retention section of the Privacy Policy. We can explain any applicable retention when responding to your request.
Delete an optional backup only
To remove a server backup while keeping your account, open Settings → Chat backup and choose Delete backup. Removing that backup does not remove existing chats from your device.
